Ascendant Capital, Inc. headquartered in New York, is a holding company that owns business engaged in real estate lending in Costa Rica and in real estate management in the USA.  Since 1995, Ascendant has structured almost $5 billion of asset-backed debt securities for the US healthcare services industry.  Ascendant  advises and invests in companies, primarily in Healthcare Services, Business Process Outsourcing, and Real Estate.

Ascendant has committed funds to invest in healthcare companies, purchase real estate in the US, as well as provide hard money loans secured by real estate in the US and in Costa Rica through its subsidiary, Ascendant Capital Inc. Ltda.

Ascendant typically partners with high net worth individuals and private equity companies to make investments, ranging in size from $10 million to $200 million in real estate and in the healthcare services sector.  Ascendant limits its investments to $5 million per transaction.  Ascendant provides active assistance in the management of the business.  Ascendant and its investment partners usually seek a control position when making an equity investment.  Targeted companies will typically have operating income of at least $4-5 million per year and a recent revenue growth rate of at least 10 per cent per year.  Targeted companies should operate in profitable niches where it will be possible to maintain revenue and profit growth.  The company must have a strong management team.

Ascendant has identified and is seeking to invest in certain niches which will benefit from the Affordable Care Act, including multi-specialty clinics, treatment of multiple chronic conditions in  extensivist clinics and Patient Centered Medical Homes, Accountable Care Organizations sponsored by hospitals with high Medicaid concentrations,  Population Health and Spend Management companies. 

Ascendant invests in commercial properties in the US, preferably multifamily and Medical Office Buildings.  Ascendant is also a direct lender for loans secured by real estate in the US and Costa Rica.  The loans are structured with conservative loan to value.  Terms range from 4 months to 3 years.   Loan amounts vary from $50,000 to $500,000.
